General Information

METU Informatics Institute was founded in 1996 with an objective of carrying out interdisciplinary graduate education and research. By bringing together with people from different departments, as well as having its faculty, the Institute aims at breaking the barriers between disciplines and creating synergy among researchers. Presently (2004) the Institute has six MS and three PhD programs (including a fully online MS Program) with more than 300 students.

Objectives

The Informatics Institute of METU was founded in 1996 with the main objectives of

• offering interdisciplinary academic programs,
• conducting theoretical and applied research and development projects,
• taking active role in developing and diffusing basic informatics courses for university students, and
• increasing the cooperation between university and industry,

in the field of informatics, in order to meet the manpower needs created by increasing spread of information and communication technologies in all sectors.

The Institute currently has graduate programs with a multitude of disciplines and affiliated faculty from different departments of the University and industry.
